Water Curtain
A circular curtain of falling water that visitors can step inside — equal parts sensory experience, artwork and live physics demonstration.
The Water Curtain surrounds visitors with the gentle, continuous fall of water. Drawn in by its circular form, they step inside and find themselves enclosed by elegant descending streams — close enough to touch, to interrupt, and to feel. The soft sound of the cascade and the shimmer of falling water make it one of the most calming, mesmerising pieces in any water gallery.
It is an exhibit that works on two levels at once: an artwork that turns water into a living sculpture, and a live demonstration of fluid dynamics that visitors literally stand inside.
Visitor experience
Children dart in and out of the curtain, break the streams with their hands and watch them instantly re-form, while adults linger to enjoy the sound and motion. Being able to step through the falling water — and emerge nearly dry on the other side — feels delightfully like passing through a waterfall.
The science on show
The curtain is gravity and flow made visible: a continuous, laminar descent of water that visitors can disturb and observe. It prompts intuitive questions about why streams hold their shape, how droplets form, and what happens when a flow is interrupted — physics learned through the fingertips.
