Magnetic Water Wall

An open-ended vertical waterway where visitors design, build and endlessly rearrange the path of flowing water with magnetic channels, chutes and wheels.

Target age: From 3 WaterPhysics

Magnetic Water Wall is a free-flowing playground where visitors design their own waterways on a vertical, magnetic surface. Water trickles from nozzles scattered across the wall, and children use magnetic channels, chutes and rotating wheels to catch it and steer it wherever they please. Because every piece simply sticks to the wall, the course can be rearranged endlessly, inviting visitors to build, redirect and rebuild the path of the water as often as they like.

Tactile, mesmerising and completely open-ended, Magnetic Water Wall combines the irresistible appeal of running water with the satisfaction of engineering a route for it — a hands-on station where there is always another way to make the water flow.

Visitor experience

Children are captivated the moment they see water trickling down the wall, and they quickly discover they can take charge of it. Placing a magnetic channel to catch a stream, adding a spinning wheel to set it turning, or rerouting the flow to a new nozzle becomes an absorbing puzzle with instant, visible results. The freedom to move every piece means no two creations are alike, and visitors experiment happily, watching how water follows the paths they build and spins the wheels they place.

It is a soothing yet endlessly engaging station, ideal for collaborative play as friends combine their pieces into elaborate waterways and delight in guiding the flow together across the whole wall.

How it works

  1. Water nozzles. Several nozzles scattered across the wall release flowing water.
  2. Magnetic pieces. Visitors place channels, chutes and rotating wheels that stick anywhere on the magnetic wall.
  3. Build a track. Children arrange the pieces to catch and guide the water along a path of their own design.
  4. Rearrange freely. Because every piece is magnetic, the waterway can be reshaped again and again.

Open-ended and endlessly reconfigurable, Magnetic Water Wall lets visitors experiment freely with how water flows, combining the play of running water with hands-on engineering.
